The Data Doesn't Lie

Texas Blue Action Democrats, in partnership with Safe Schools for All, targeted a handful of school districts for local elections in May 2022.

One of the targeted districts was Eanes ISD. We invested the majority of our resources in the Eanes district, with the support of a new Blue Action chapter. Westlake Area Blue Action Dems has been building out our year-round neighborhood organizing model since January 2022.

These races proved contentious, with $100K+ pouring in from right wing PACS and several school board meetings consumed with discussions of book banning and critical race theory.

The local Blue Action Chapter spent four weekends block walking with local volunteers, many with children who attended the local schools.
We knocked the doors of voters with a Democratic voting history in five key precincts. We also coordinated to send those voters a reminder text and a follow up phone call.

In the targeted precincts, turnout was 32.6%, in non-targeted precincts, turnout was 21.4%.  Both incumbents who were targeted by right wing candidates won their races, by a few hundred votes each.

Voter contact was critical to the win in each of these local races.

We're merging with Safe Schools for All to Elect Pro-Education Candidates

School board races have become a battleground in recent months with conservative candidates pouring tens of thousands of dollars into these hyper-local races. With the merger of Safe Schools for All with Texas Blue Action Democrats, we have a chance to support local, pro-education candidates get their message to voters.

These important local races are going to require all hands on deck. This expands our resources and organizing infrastructure. If there is one thing they know how to do well it is to organize communities to get sh*t done. By bringing together the passionate parents from the Safe Schools For All movement and the organizing infrastructure of Texas Blue Action, we are launching a powerful and purposeful partnership.

This new partnership will focus on turning out voters in important May elections in six communities: Round Rock, Dripping Springs, Eanes, Hays, Lake Travis and Spring Branch.
